City Police Make Arrests

On Sunday at approximately 2:00 a.m., the Cumberland Police Department arrested Patrick Kenneth Conners, Jr. in reference to a domestic assault which took place at a residence in the 800 block of Columbia Avenue.  Upon arrival contact was made with the male victim who stated that he was assaulted by his stepson, Conners.  The victim stated that he was punched in the forehead by Conners causing a large red lump.  The victim did not require medical treatment.  Conners was taken to District Court for his initial appearance and held on $5,000.00 at the Allegany County Detention Center. Patrick Kenneth Conners, Jr., age 25, of Cumberland, was charged with second degree assault.

On Saturday the Cumberland Police Department served a criminal summons on Robert George Mattingly in reference to an assault.  The assault took place in the area of Valley Street at Henderson Avenue on June 29. On that date Mattingly allegedly assaulted a female by punching her and throwing her to the ground.  The female victim applied for charges against Mattingly at District Court which resulted in the summons being issued. Arrested was Robert George Mattingly, age 23, of Hedgesville, WV.  Mattingly was charged with second degree assault and reckless endangerment.
