City Police Make Burglary & Warrant Arrests

On April 17th, 2017 officers from the Cumberland Police Department responded to the 200 block of Spring St for a report of a large disturbance and possible fight.  Upon arrival officers contacted several subjects in the area.  Through the course of the investigation, officers learned that Larenzo Dewayne Simmons, age 35, of New York, had entered a residence and began to cause a disturbance.  As officers arrived on scene, Simmons was seen exiting the residence.  The victim advised that he was woken up by Simmons, who he did not know. When he woke up, he observed Simmons in his living room causing a disturbance.  A female resident, along with her child were present in the living room. He told Simmons to get out of the residence and followed him out when the officers arrived.  Simmons was placed under arrest for fourth degree burglary and disorderly conduct.  He was taken before the District Court Commissioner and was released on his personal recognizance.

Theft Arrest

On April 17th, 2017, officers from the Cumberland Police Department responded to a Virginia Ave business for a report of shoplifting.  The suspects had already left the scene, however video footage of the theft was observed.  A male and female were seen placing items into a backpack and leaving the business.  Officers later arrested Larenzo Dewayne Simmons for an unrelated matter.    Simmons was then identified as the male party in the theft incident.  He was issued a citation for Theft less than $100.  He is currently being held on the burglary charges.

Warrant Arrest

On April 17th, 2017 officers from the Cumberland Police Department arrested Crystal Nicole Rymer, age 25, of Cumberland, MD on two outstanding arrest warrants.  The warrants were issued for Violation of Probation.  The warrants stemmed from two original charges of Obstructing and Hindering and Trespassing.  She was taken before the District Court Commissioner and is currently being held on a combined $10,000 bond at the Allegany County Detention Center.
