City Police Make VOP And Burglary Arrests

On September 22nd, 2019, the Cumberland City Police arrested Mark Johnathon Tallman, age 50, of Cumberland MD. Officers observed Tallman on foot in the 600 block of N. Centre St and had knowledge of an active warrant for his arrest. When officer’s observed Tallman, he was ordered to stop. Tallman then fled from officers into a nearby residence and locked himself inside, refusing to answer the door. Officers were able to take him into custody a short time later without further incident. He was taken before the District Court Commissioner for an initial appearance where he was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center. He is currently being held on $7,000 bond.

Charges:  Violation of Probation, Obstructing and Hindering, Resisting Arrest

 

 

***Adult Arrest***

On September 22nd, 2019, The Cumberland City Police responded to a business on Wineow St. for the report of an activated burglar alarm. Upon officer’s arrival on scene, they observed a male subject exiting the rear door wearing dark clothing, gloves, and holding a trash bag. The subject was identified as Eric Leighton Christopher Brewington, age 19, of Cumberland MD. Officers discovered that Brewington had damaged the rear door of the business, allowing him to make entry. As a result of the investigation, Brewington was placed under arrest and transported to Police Headquarters. He was taken before the District Court Commissioner for an initial appearance where he was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center. He is currently being held on a temporary commitment.

Charges:  3rd Degree Burglary, 4th Degree Burglary, Destruction of Property. Trespassing, Disorderly Conduct
