On Wednesday, April 10th, 2019 the Cumberland City Police arrested Kevin Lee Hewlin, 34, of Cumberland MD. Hewlin was arrested on an active arrest warrant stemming from an incident on July 6th, 2018. During that incident, it was alleged that Hewlin entered a Greene St business and cashed a forged check. Hewlin was taken before the District Court Commissioner for an initial appearance where he was released on his own personal recognizance.

***Criminal Summons Arrest***
On Wednesday, April 10th, 2019, the Cumberland City Police served a criminal summons on Garrett Glenn Appel, age 28, of Cumberland Maryland. The summons was issued in reference to a incident that also occurred on April 10th, 2019 at a residence in the 300 block of Washington St. During that incident, it is alleged that Appel was in the residence when they became involved in an argument with the tenant. During the argument, Appel was said to have punched a hole in a door inside the residence. Appel was served the summons and released, pending trial in District Court.
