City Council candidate charged with assault

A candidate for a seat on the Cumberland City Council was arrested Monday night on assault charges. Robin Hood Constitution, 61, also known as Mark Shyrock, was taken into custody by Allegany County Sheriff’s deputies shortly after units were dispatched to a Sentinal Lane address for a reported domestic situation.  A female victim told officers  she had been strangled and assaulted by Shyrock.   He was located minutes later and taken into custody on charges of 1st and 2nd degree assault. The woman was transported from the scene with non life threatening injuries. It was Shyrock’s second run-in with law enforcement on Monday as earlier he had been served with a criminal summons by Cumberland City Police charging him with assault in reference to an a May 27th incident that occurred at a North Waverly Street address. On that occaision he is alleged to have assaulted a man in a dispute over a vehicle. Shyrock is on the November 3rd ballot as one of four candidates seeking a seat on the city council.
