Cumberland city officials agreed this week to leave the current real estate tax rate the same- but there will be increases for trash service and water. The biggest increase comes with trash collection which will see a 37% hike- equating to a little more than four more dollars a month on a customer’s bill.

Usual action of Rhodes & the rest of them, raise cost to City residents instead of finding solutions. If this continues it is just a matter of time when you will not be able to afford living within the City.

CTN reports: Trash bills will increase for city residents after officials agreed Tuesday to a three-year contract with Burgmeier Hauling.
The contract represents a 30 percent price increase over the current contract.
So, the contractor raises the cost to the city 30% and the city raises the cost to its subjects 37%, a 23% greater increase. I guess such fine government doesn’t come cheap. They probably view it as a value added surcharge.
And lets see if the 5% increase applies only to water as stated or to sewer as well which has already been roughly doubled in recent years. I guess they need some extra money to make up for city staff turning off their meters when they fill their pools.
