City Will Consider Community Project Requests

Although the city of Cumberland is working with an estimated CDBG budget  of more than $700,000-  just a little more than $100,000 in requests came for community projects during a public hearing this week. The council will consider the requests for grant funding through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.  Known as the Community Development Block Grant, the funding is an annual grant from HUD that is distributed through the states to benefit local nonprofit organizations and community projects.
