City Woman Charged With Child Abuse: Juveniles Removed From Home

On Saturday at approximately 9:00 AM the Cumberland City Police were notified by the Department of Social Services (DSS) of a child abuse investigation in the 1000 block of Michigan Avenue.

Upon arrival officers and DSS workers removed five juveniles from the residence. Officers interviewed the victims and observed injuries to several of them. The juveniles were taken to the hospital for precaution and further interviews. After the interviews a search and seizure warrant was executed at the residence. As a result of the investigation the suspect Cheryl Denise Pilcher was placed her under arrest.

Pilcher was taken before a District Court Commissioner and remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center without bond. The investigation into this matter is ongoing.

Charges – 2 counts of 2nd Degree Child Abuse: Custodian, 2 counts of Assault 1st Degree, and 2 counts of Assault 2nd Degree
