City Woman Held After Alleged Purse Theft

On Saturday, Cumberland Police responded to the 100 block of Grand Ave for report of a robbery. Upon arrival, officers made contact with several witnesses and were told that Tabitha Yonker was seen on the porch of the victim, where she pushed the victim into a porch post, took the victims purse, and fled the area on foot.

Contact was made with the victim and officers were told that Yonker approached the victim and made small talk. Yonker then pushed the victim into a porch post, causing the victim to strike her head. Yonker then grabbed the victim’s purse and after a brief struggle, Yonker gained control of the victim’s purse. Yonker then fled the area on foot.

A short time later, officers located Yonker in the 100 block of Pennsylvania Ave. As a result of the investigation, 41 year old Tabitha Ann Yonker of Cumberland, MD was placed under arrest and transported to the District Court Commissioner’s Office for her initial appearance. Yonker was then remanded to the Allegany County Detention held without bond.

Charges: Robbery, Assault 2nd Degree, Theft less than $100.00, Obstructing and Hindering
