Not a week goes by that a member of the Cumberland Mayor and City Council doesn’t hear about a blighted property in town that needs to be addressed- and while there remains a long list of eyesores in town, it's not an issue the city has been ignoring. Mayor Brian Grim has made demolishing such deteriorating structures a top priority, going so far as to add a “blighted property target” list on his website. City Administrator Jeff Rhodes said recently that the city is working hard to keep up with the complaints, but it is a challenge.
