Clear Spring Man Facing Serious Charges

The Herald Mail reports a Clear Spring man was charged Monday after a robbery early Saturday at a Berkeley County restaurant in which the assailant put a couch on top of an employee and threatened to kill her, according to the the county sheriff's department and magistrate court records.

Robert Phillip Seidelman, 45, of Angle Drive was charged with first-degree robbery, court records said

Seidelman was taken into custody at his place of employment in Hagerstown, according to a sheriff's department news release.

 

The sheriff's department was notified Saturday at about 3:30 a.m. of a robbery that occurred at the Hilltop Cafe at 3695 Williamsport Pike north of Martinsburg.

Cpl. B. McGhee said he responded to the business and was told that a man and woman had been in the business earlier in the evening playing slot machines and drinking beer.

Video surveillance at the business showed them using multiple slot machines through the night and drinking, court records said.
