Colleagues Suggest Dwyer Step Down

August 22nd, 2013 by WCBC Radio

Earlier this week, nearly one year to the day after he was involved in an alcohol related boating crash on the Magothy River,  Anne Arundel County Delegate Don Dwyer faces new drunk driving charges- and now some of his colleagues are suggesting he step down from the office.  Anne Arundel County Police say Dwyer was stopped on Route 100 eastbound at Edwin Raynor Boulevard at around 12:45 Tuesday morning. Police say Dwyer had been driving erratically. He appeared glassy eyed and his speech was slurred. Dwyer failed three field sobriety tests, according to the police report. Police also say Dwyer gave an officer what turned out to be an expired vehicle registration. Maryland State Delegate Keiffer Mitchell said he expects the high profile case will lead to a major push for more stringent dwi/dui laws.
