Having toured the site, heard presentations from both qualified bidders and listened to local public comment- the Maryland Gaming Commission is expected to award a slots license as early as next month for the Rocky Gap Lodge and Resort. It’s been a lengthy process to see slots this close to fruition in western Maryland, a process that began in 2008 when voters overwhelmingly approved legalizing slots at five locations including Rocky Gap. Two failed rfp’s slowed the effort considerably- however two bidders did meet the criteria this past summer when a third RFP was held.
