Although the Allegany County Commissioners have no say in whether or not a proposed wind farm on Dan’s Mountain comes to fruition- that hasn’t stopped many local residents from contacting the local officials with strong opinions. The situation has become an irritant for County Commissioner Creade Brodie Jr. A subsidiary of U.S. Wind Force has been trying since at least 2009 to build what would be the first wind farm in Allegany County. Opponents have raised concerns about the turbines' effects on wildlife, outdoor recreation, aesthetics and emergency communications. While the commissioners have not taken an official position on the issue, Brodie supports the project- and hasn’t hidden his frustration with those who oppose what he believes would be an economic shot in the arm for the county…
