Commissioner Hopes To Focus On Continuing TO Change The Atmosphere Of County Government

2011 proved to be a challenging and rewarding year for Allegany County Commissioners President Mike McKay- and now that the “growing pains” portion of the job has passed, the commissioner hopes to focus on continuing to change the atmosphere of county government. Both McKay, and Commissioner Bill Valentine, are self employed- each operating successful businesses in the county for many years- and both have made it a priority to see government run more like a private sector company. The first time elected official tells WCBC News that obviously there are vast differences between how the public and private sector operate- and the notion of using a business model for government cannot be implemented on a broad scale. He does believe however that the best business practices can be applied to running the county…
