Valentine talks slots with Evitts group

August 9th, 2012 by WCBC Radio

Allegany County Commissioner Bill Valentine and Delegate Leroy Myers met for close to three hours Wednesday afternoon with the Evitts Resort group to discuss future plans for slots at Rocky Gap. The Evitts Resort group officially purchased the resort last week, just two days after scrapping its original plan to build a $65 million slots facility adjacent to the hotel with 850 slot machines.  The plan now calls for just 500 machines to be placed in the existing conference rooms.  Most concerning to the Allegany County Commissioners is the fact that conference space would be lost- as would revenue. Valentine tells WCBC News that in talks Wednesday, he believes some wiggle room was identified that could lead to the development of a new conference facility
