Commissioners Adds $5 Million for New Route 220

The Allegany County Commissioners this month revised the county’s transportation improvement plan to add $5 million for the planning stage of a new U.S. Route 220, which will link the road to Corridor H in West Virginia.  County transportation planner Roy Cool said that to get the funding, the money must be amended into the plan. The monies became available recently, said State Highway Administration officials. The money includes $4 million in federal funds and $1 million in state funds.  The road is part of the concept for the North-South Highway running from Pennsylvania to Corridor H. The Federal Highway Administration’s Record of Decision is expected during early winter of 2014 for the Tier I Project Planning Study, which would allow for Tier II of the study to begin.  County Commissioner Creade Brodie Jr said the money includes $4 million in federal funds and $1 million in state funds…
