Commissioners and Board Debate New School

August 31st, 2011 by WCBC Radio

The President of the Allegany County Board of Education and the President of the Allegany County Commissioners, for close to an hour, debated the subject of funding for a new high school as both were guests on WCBC’s “Dave Norman Show”. While the school board has identified a new Allegany High School as its top capital project, the commissioners aren’t yet ready to do the same. Board President Llewellyn says the commissioners decision to lower its debt affordability is ill-timed, and could jeopardize the project, while Commissioner Mckay maintains the commissioners are simply exercising fiscal responsibility and studying the potential long term debt issues.
