Commissioners Appear Unlikely To Allocate Additional Funding To BoE

Although Allegany County enjoys a healthy fund balance, and the Board of Education is facing some fiscal challenges- it appears unlikely the commissioners will allocate the additional 4.5 % in funding the board has requested. The board made its formal budget presentation to the commissioners recently; with board president Laurie Marchini noting that the system has been hard hit by the skyrocketing cost of health insurance.  The county’s fiancé director Jason Bennett said that although the county has $25 million in its reserve fund- there is limited fiscal flexibility at this time…
