County Working On Debt

May 9th, 2014 by WCBC Radio

The Allegany County Commissioners continued the budget process Thursday afternoon with a breakdown of the county’s debt affordable situation. While the annual debt payment stands at about three million now- it is expected to jump to four million in 2016 and 2017 when payment begins toward the new Allegany High School.  Finance Director Jason Bennett said the goal following that two year window is to get the debt service back to the $3 million level. Commissioners President Mike Mckay says he has always had a philosophy of leaving the next board of commissioners with a better fiscal situation than was inherited.
