Commissioners Discuss Coal With State Senator George Edwards

Taking advantage of the meetings location, the Allegany County Commissioners last week invited state Senator George Edwards to discuss the significance of the coal industry to the region. As part of an ongoing effort to reach out to all parts of the county, the commissioners conducted Thursday’s business meeting at the Barton Town Hall. Barton is a vital part of the Georges Creek coal area. Edwards says that employment in the local coal industry, combined with the spinoff provides a major boost to the local economy…
