Commissioners Expected To Adopt New County Ethics Law Today

The Allegany County commissioners today (Thursday) expect to adopt a new county ethics law at their regular public meeting. Today is a legislative meeting for the county, which is required by law to pass the law and certify it to the state as by Oct. 1.  The update was required to conform to state code. The rewritten law could increase the membership of the Allegany County Ethics Commission from three to five.  That request came from William Turnbull, the chairman of the Allegany County Ethics Commission who said it was because there was an occasion last year that saw two of the three members hospitalized at the same time so it was impossible to obtain a quorum to conduct business.
