The Allegany County Commissioners heard from Liquor board Chairman Michael Griffith Thursday regarding several potential changes to local liquor laws. A number of proposed changes were discussed during a recent public work session of the commissioners. Griffith said the members of the board think that individuals 18 years of age should be able to serve spirits. The board also sent out surveys to all county liquor license holders asking for their input on changing the serving time for alcohol at restaurants to 11 a.m. on Sundays. Current regulations do not allow sales until 1 p.m. He says the survey shows that about 75 percent of license holders agreed with the proposal. The liquor board also plans to survey all license holders to ask their opinion on Sunday package store sales in the county. Griffith emphasized to the commissioners that the board is not advocating or opposing any changes, but simply making itself available to provide information and input collected from bar, tavern and package store owners…
