Commissioners Holding Meeting in Luke

October 10th, 2011 by WCBC Radio

The Allegany County Commissioners plan to take their show on the road by conducting the county’s October 27th business meeting at town hall in Westernport. The town of Luke has also requested the commissioners meet there, and that meeting is tentatively scheduled for March. While the idea of holding commissioners meetings in various locations around the county is nothing new, this board of commissioners has made an aggressive and concerted effort to be more constiuent friendly on every level. County office hours have been adjusted to make it more convenient for citizens needing to conduct county business; the time allowed for citizens to address the commissioners during meeting has been doubled; and numerous town hall meeting on community issues have been held in those areas impacted by the issue at hand.  Commissioners President Mike Mckay said all three commissioners, upon taking office, decided that it was important to engage the towns and municipalities in county government.
