Commissioners step up funding commitment to new Alco

October 22nd, 2015 by WCBC Radio

The Allegany County Commissioners voted 2-1 Thursday night to send a letter of support to the state for the new Allegany High School project- committing an additional four million dollars in local funds. While no concrete numbers will be known til after the project is re-bid at the start of next year, the best guess estimates at this time is that school will be somewhere in the $50 to $54 million range. The county’s additional dollars still leaves a gap of anywhere between $3 and $4 million dollars. Commissioners Bill Valentine and Jake Shade signed off on the letter with Shade saying that the county is not prepared to let this project die. Commissioner Creade Brodie voted against committing additional funding.
