Commissioners To Consider Amending LaVale Zoning Ordinance

The Allegany County Commissioners on Thursday will consider amending the LaVale zoning ordinance to exempt political signs from any restrictions to bring it in line with rules for the rest of the county. LaVale’s current ordinance, which stipulates that political signs may be no larger than “24 x 36” and must be removed within five days of an election, has been subject to criticism beginning  during the 2010 election season when several candidates were told that their signs were illegal. County attorney William Rudd researched the law and found the ordinance to be unconstitutional…
