Senator says Allegany County will lose jobs

Maryland Senate Minority Leader David Brinkley, R-Frederick, a member of the Senate Finance Committee, says the increase in the state’s minimum wage will not be the boost to the economy that many democrats are touting- and areas such as western Maryland will be negatively impacted.  He says the wage hike will give incentive to businesses to rely more on machines, reducing the number of entry-level jobs.  Brinkley says a minimum wage hike is only putting a temporary band aid on a major, long term problem- and it diverts focus away from the real economic facing in the region…
