Community Watch Dog Passes Away

July 19th, 2013 by WCBC Radio

Longtime community watch dog and a one time candidate for a seat on the Cumberland City Council has passed away. Albert Keener, who frequently attended city meetings to voice concerns and to act as a advocate, passed away Wednesday at the age of 41. Despite having Becker’s muscular dystrophy, Keener graduated from Oldtown School at the top of his class in 1990 and went to Frostburg State University on a scholarship,  graduating in 1994 with a degree in graphic design. He was employed by Alliance Publishing in Cumberland. Keener was a regular caller to WCBC’s  “Dave Norman Show” with opinions on city issues ranging from water main breaks;  to crime rates; and taxes….
