Compost Site Begins Summer Hours

April 3rd, 2013 by WCBC Radio

As previously announced, with spring clean up time and the start of the gardening season, for the convenience of Allegany County residents, the Allegany County Compost Site will start summer hours of operation on April 3, the first Wednesday in April. The compost site will be open five days per week, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Allegany County Government’s compost site is located at 11700 PPG Road in the North Branch Industrial Park (off of MD Route 51 South, across from the former PPG Plant). Allegany County residents may drop off grass, leaves, brush, tree and limbs 4 inches or less in diameter at the compost site. They may also take, free of charge, composted mulch.

Allegany County Government’s website, www.gov.allconet.org, has extensive recycling information.  Recycling questions may be directed to Terry A. Bennett, Recycling Coordinator in the Allegany County Department of Public Works at 301-777-5933 x210.
