Yesterday, Congressman David Trone (MD-06) hosted a telephone town hall with a panel of experts from the U.S. Small Business Administration, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), the Maryland Department of Labor, the Frederick County Health Department, and the National Alliance on Mental Illness in Montgomery County. Nearly 7,000 people tuned in for the event.
“I share the frustrations of the many workers, families, and small businesses I’ve spoken with over the last month whose lives have been completely altered by the COVID-19 outbreak and who have had trouble accessing the benefits they need to stay afloat,” said Congressman Trone. “Fighting for my constituents is the most important thing I can do as a representative in Congress, and I was grateful to hear directly from Marylanders today to provide answers and connect folks with resources to help weather this pandemic. I want to especially thank the federal, state, and local partners who were on the call to provide information to Marylanders.”
The telephone town hall focused on the benefits available to help workers, families, and businesses in Maryland and identify next steps Congress can take amid the COVID-19 outbreak. This comes after Congress has passed four bills worth nearly $3 trillion to help our country respond to the coronavirus pandemic.
This is the third telephone town hall Trone has conducted since the COVID-19 outbreak. He’s also held webinars on small business and nonprofit resources, how to prevent yourself from COVID-19 scams, and mental health during the COVID-19 outbreak.
On the call, Trone highlighted his 108-page Community Resource Guide to COVID-19 and a Small Business Owner’s Guide to the CARES Act, which are available on his website.
