Congressman Delaney Proposes Increase In Funding For Fisher Houses

Maryland Sixth District Congressman John Delaney says its time for America to step up when it comes to the medical treatment and services for veterans.  One step centers on his proposal to increase funding for Fisher houses, homes that provide free lodging near hospitals for families of members of military and veterans to stay while their loved ones are getting treatment. Delaney, who represents western Maryland, introduced the amendment to add funding for Fisher houses as part of the Department of Defense Appropriations Act. Delaney’s amendment, which increases funding for the Fisher House Account by $16 million, would pay for the construction of at least four new Fisher houses and is offset by a reduction in the Defense-Wide Operation and Maintenance Account…
