Controversy Continues to Surround Footer Dye Works Building

The Canal Place Preservation and Development Authority’s recent decision to patch the roof of the aging Footer Dye Works building raised some eyebrows in the community- as many view putting any money into the deteriorating structure as a waste of time and money. Former Board member Mark Widmyer who resigned from the board just last week was one of those who feel there is a way to raze the structure instead of spending more money on it. Authority Chair Andy Vick said that even it that were possible- state historical preservation officials will not permit it. He said that authority has been told in no uncertain terms that the structure must be preserved
