Correctional Officer Stabbed By Inmate At NBCI

A correctional officer at North Branch Correctional Institution in Cumberland was stabbed January 19th according to reports.

The inmate reportedly manipulated his restraints and began stabbing the officer with a homemade weapon following a visit.

    Maybe if you made assault on a Corrections officer a life sentence this would stop except for the ones on death row which is a laugh in Maryland who have nothing to lose

    Most inmates housed at NBCI are never leaving so that is not a deterrent. Inmates are supposed to be searched before they leave the unit, and properly restrained so that is at issue.
