On Friday, 09/07/2012, Investigators with the Allegany County Combined Criminal Investigation Unit (C3I) arrested 41 year old Steven Andrew Hart, of Rawlings, on multiple counts of Sexual Conduct Between a Correctional Employee and Inmate, 4th Degree Sex Offense, 2nd Degree Assault, and Indecent Exposure. The charges are the result of a joint investigation by the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office and C3I into allegations that Hart, a Correctional Officer at the Allegany County Detention Center, had inappropriate sexual contact with a female inmate who was incarcerated there at the time. Hart was taken before a District Court Commissioner for an initial appearance, and was released on personal recognizance pending his next court appearance. According to Sheriff Craig Robertson, Hart has been placed on administrative suspension pending the outcome of further court proceedings.
