Council Awards $120,000 to People on the Go

October 9th, 2018 by WCBC Radio

The Maryland Developmental Disabilities Council is pleased to announce a $120,000 grant to People on the Go of Maryland (POG). This grant continues the Council's long history of support of POG's work, which focuses on developing and supporting effective advocates with developmental disabilities to effect change in their own lives, as well as the lives of others.

In addition, POG will continue to advocate for improvements in policies, practices, services and laws in Maryland to ensure people with disabilities have equal rights and opportunities. This year's grant is $20,000 more than recent years to allow POG to expand its support to local self-advocacy groups. The Maryland Center for Developmental Disabilities is providing support to POG as well as some matching funds.

Ken Capone, POG Director of Public Policy, said, "With this funding, Maryland self-advocates are able to receive quality training and representation to advance policy and equality for all people with intellectual and developmental disabilities."
