Council Awards Waste Contract to Burgmeier’s Hauling

April 9th, 2014 by WCBC Radio

The Cumberland Mayor and City Council voted last night to award the Municipal Solid Waste Hauling Contract to Burgmeier’s Hauling for a low bid not to exceed approximately 750-thousand dollars per year. The vote was unanimous with Councilman Nick Scarpelli abstaining from the vote. It was not without debate, though, as Teamsters Local 453 Larry Wolfe took exception to the decision and Facebook comments about the apparent low bid made by Mayor Brian Grim.  The union has 20 members working with the current contractor Advanced Disposal.
