Even though the Cumberland Mayor and City Council did not end up selling the property surrounding Lakes Koon and Gordon to a Pennsylvania Conservancy group; and a committee has been appointed to determine the best approach to take to managing the land- some citizens still have concerns. One resident urged the council not to allow clear cutting on the land surrounds the city’s water supply. Councilman David Kauffman said there are no plans to move in that direction, noting that there is a clear difference between getting rid of deseased trees, compared to clear cutting.
