County Beginning Budget Process With A Serious Deficit

Potentially facing a 3 million dollar budget shortfall, the Allegany County Commissioners expect to have to seriously consider layoffs and furloughs for county employees. With the state of Maryland having approved the so-called “dooms day” budget which contains no tax increases, but hundreds of millions in cuts, the county is beginning its budget process with a serious deficit. County Administrator David Eberly said that when it comes to cuts, this go around may see employees lose their jobs…
