County, City dealing with post storm debris

July 2nd, 2012 by WCBC Radio

Allegany County Government’s compost site now will be open every day from dawn to dusk for Allegany County residents to drop off debris from last week’s storm.  Natural debris, except stone, will be accepted for the storm clean up – grass, leaves, brush, tree branches and trees 4 inches or less in diameter. Other storm related debris is not accepted at the compost site.  The compost site is located at 11700 PPG Road in the North Branch Industrial Park (off of MD Route 51 South, across from the former PPG Plant).  The expanded storm schedule will remain in effect until further notice.  Due to the heavy damage, residents are encouraged to transport tree debris to the Allegany County compost site on PPG Road in Mexico Farms.  City crews will also be working throughout the coming weeks to clear debris from public right of ways and will assist residents with tree debris placed at the curbside.  The City asks residents to be patient during what is expected to be a lengthy process and will provide additional details as they become available.
