It turns out the department that has been eliminated by the Allegany County Commissioners as part of this year budget cuts impacted only one individual as the commissioners have done away with the county clerk position. 32-year county employee Cathy Blank was notified last week that she was being placed on administrative leave- and she was escorted from the building that day. She will receive salary and benefits through the end of June. County Commissioner Bill Valentine said that tthe action is not in any way a reflection of the performance of the clerk- but more a case of that position becoming somewhat obsolete. In addition he says such a move will not impact the citizens in anyway…
