County Making Arrangements for Ten Commandments Lawsuit

The Allegany County Commissioners are finalizing arrangements with an Arizona based group to handle a lawsuit filed in federal court against the county that calls for the removal of a Ten Commandments monument outside the courthouse on Washington Street.  That federal lawsuit was filed against Allegany County commissioners  Bill Valentine, Creade Brodie and Jacob Shade by Swanton, Maryland resident Jeffery Davis on April 29. Although he lives in Swanton, the complaint states Davis owns property in Allegany County and is a municipal taxpayer. All three commissioners  say they are willing to  fight to keep the monument. County Attorney Bill Rudd, during Thursday’s commissioners meeting, said the group will be issuing a press release in the near future with all of the  details…
