County waiting to deal with budget

May 12th, 2012 by WCBC Radio

Allegany County officials will wait to see the results of the state's special session before beginning serious work on the next budget. The hope is that lawmakers will restore part or all of a disparity grant lost when the so-called “doomsday budget” went into effect after the General Assembly failed to come up with an operating budget when the regular session ended April 9.

The county then had to postpone a series of budget meetings and hearings while awaiting final word from the state.

The special session begins Monday and Thursday the county released a new schedule of budget meetings and hearings.
