On August 21, 2018 at 7:56 pm, officers from the Cumberland Police Department responded to the 600 block of Centre Street for an assault. Upon arriving on the scene, officers contacted Travis Shears, age 28, of Cumberland and the victim. Officers found during their investigation that Shears had struck the victim several times causing minor injuries. Subsequently, at the completion of the investigation Shears was placed under arrest. Upon searching Shears incident to arrest officer located a small amount of cocaine on his person. Shears was then transported to the Cumberland Police Department where he was charged with Second Degree Assault and CDS Possession Not Marijuana. Shears was later taken to District Court for his Initial Appearance and held without bond.
