CPD Make Disturbing The Peace Arrest

On June 16, 2016 officers from the Cumberland City Police Department responded to McDonalds located at 22 Queen City Drive for a reported assault.  When officers arrived they made contact with Michael Anthony Butler Jr.  Butler advised officers that he was the victim of an assault.  While officers were trying to speak with Butler, he was belligerent, cursing and refused to lower his voice.  Officers contacted several witnesses in the area and learned that Butler entered the restaurant and began to cause a disturbance.  Butler was confronted by store security and asked to leave the business.  Butler was escorted outside the business where he began to argue with security.  At some point during the argument, Butler spit on the security officer.  While officers were speaking with additional witnesses in the area, Butler continued to yell at patrons in the area.  Butler refused to lower his voice and had to be placed under arrest.  Butler was transported to the Cumberland City Police Department for processing.  Butler was served with a criminal summons and later released pending a trial in District Court. 

 

Arrested: Michael Anthony Butler Jr.           Age: 28 of Cumberland, MD

Charge: Disturbance of the Public Peace.
