April 10th, 2017 by WCBC Radio

On April 9, 2017 at approximately 3:43 AM an officer with the Cumberland Police Department was conducting checks of businesses in the 600 block of Greene Street when he located broken glass in the roadway.  The officer began investigating the broken glass and also discovered a business in the area to have damage to a window.  Another officer arrived on the scene and they began checking other businesses in the area for damage.  As they were conducting the investigation, they observed Craig Allen Beatty walk out of a nearby residence.  They approached Beatty in an attempt to gather information for the damage the officers observed.  Beatty became hostile and would not speak with the officers.  The officers recognized Beatty and also knew he had two active warrants for his arrest.  Beatty began entering the residence and the officers told him to stop and that he had warrants.  Beatty refused to listen to the officers and closed the door.  The officers ordered Beatty to open the door, which he refused.  Officers attempted to gain entry into the residence but Beatty held the door closed.  The officers were finally able to make forced entry into the residence and place him under arrest without further incident.  The bench warrants charge Beatty with Violating Pre-trial Release Conditions on February 10, 2017 and again on February 16, 2017.  Beatty was also charged with Resisting Arrest for what occurred during this incident.  He was taken before a District Court Commissioner for determination of bond.  For the Bench Warrant for Violating Pre-trial Release Conditions on February 10, 2017 he was held on $10,000.  For the Bench Warrant for Violating Pre-trial Release Conditions on February 16 he was held on $10,000.  For the additional charge of Resisting Arrest he was held on $5,000.  Total bond for Beatty was set at $25,000.  He was taken to the Allegany County Detention Center to await his next appearance in District Court.
