CPD Makes Assault Arrest & Serves Multiple Warrants

On April 3, 2017 the Cumberland Police served an arrest warrant on Shaniqua Loretta Wiley for 2nd Degree Assault and Disturbing the Peace.  The charges stem from an incident that occurred on March 29 where Wiley and a female got into an argument in the 300 block of Grand Avenue.  During the argument Wiley struck the female several times, causing minor injury to her face.  The female victim was later transported to the hospital by private vehicle for treatment of minor injuries.  Wiley was arrested and taken before a District Court Commissioner for a bond hearing where she was released on her personal recognizance pending trial in District Court.

Warrant Arrest

On April 3, 2017 the Cumberland Police served an arrest warrant on Jordan Calvin Preston for 2nd Degree Assault.  The charges are the result of an incident the Cumberland Police investigated on March 29.  During the investigation it was learned Preston and an adult female were involved in a disturbance in the 200 block of Virginia Avenue.  Preston began threatening the female and then threw a brick at her.  The brick missed the female and she fled the scene before she was able to seek help.  Preston was charged with 2nd Degree Assault, Disturbing the Peace, and Disorderly Conduct.  He was taken before a District Court Commissioner for a bond hearing where he was held without bond pending his next appearance in District Court.

Charges:  2nd Degree Assault, Disturbing the Peace, and Disorderly Conduct

Warrant Arrest

On April 3, 2017 the Cumberland Police served a Bench Warrant on Nathan Ray Frye for Failure to Appear for a case in Frederick County, Maryland.  He was taken to the Allegany County Detention Center to await extradition back to Frederick County.

Charges:  Bench Warrant for Failure to Appear

Warrant Arrest

On April 3, 2017 the Cumberland Police served an arrest warrant on Travis William Elder for charges of Theft:  Less Than $1000 Value and Conspiracy to Commit Theft:  Less Than $1000 Value.  He was taken before a District Court Commissioner for a bond hearing where he was released on his personal recognizance pending his next appearance in District Court.

Arrested:

Travis William Elder, age:  32, Fort Ashby, WV

Charges:  Theft:  Less $1000 Value and Con-Theft:  Less $1000 Value

Assault Arrest

On April 3, 2017 the Cumberland Police responded to a large disturbance in the 200 block of Spring Street.  Upon arrival it was learned several subjects had been involved in an altercation.  Investigation revealed Reginald Murray was in a fight with several other people and displayed a knife, swinging it at them.  During the altercation an adult male received a slight injury to his finger that did not require medical treatment.  Murray was arrested and is currently awaiting a bond hearing.  The incident is still under investigation and additional charges are pending.

Charges:  1st Degree Assault, Attempted 1st Degree Assault, 2nd Degree Assault X2, Reckless Endangerment X2, and Disorderly Conduct
