CPD Makes CDS Arrests & Seeking Information Regarding Theft

On October 22, 2016 at approximately 11:00 PM an Officer from the Cumberland Police observed a vehicle operating without a properly functioning taillight on Interstate 68.  The Officer stopped the vehicle on Interstate 68 near the Willowbrook Road on ramp.  The Officer made contact with the driver and passenger.  A K9 Officer was summoned to the scene and conducted a scan of the vehicle.  The K9 alerted to the presence of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS).  A probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted.  Officers located a substantial amount of suspected  cocaine.  The driver originally gave a false name and was later identified as Harry Dale Clarke.  Clarke and the passenger, Myconfous Smith, both of Queens, NY, were placed under arrest and transported to the Cumberland Police Department.  At the time of the press release they were both awaiting a bond hearing with the Allegany County District Court Commissioner.

Arrested:

Harry Dale Clarke, age 49, Queens, NY

Myconfous T. Smith, age 35, Queens, NY

 

Charges: (Both charged with the same counts)

CDS Possession other than Marijuana

CDS Possession with Intent to Distribute

UPDATE  – Both subjects were transported to the Allegany County District Court Commissioner’s Office for their respective bond hearings.  Both subjects listed above were held on $250,000 bond each.

 

THEFT

The Cumberland Police Department is seeking assistance from the public regarding a theft that occurred sometime in the late evening hours of Sunday, October 23, 2016.  At that time unknown person(s) entered the property of a Columbia Avenue residence and removed wicker patio furniture from the porch.  Anyone with information regarding this case should call the Cumberland Police at 301-777-1600.
