CPD Makes Disorderly Conduct Arrest & Serve Warrant

Officers from the Cumberland Police Department responded to the Downtown Mall area for a disturbance.  Officers were advised that a subject had entered several businesses causing disturbances.  Officers were able to locate the subject who was identified as Nicholas Craig Moreland.  After speaking with several witnesses in two different businesses Moreland was taken into custody without incident.  Moreland was transported to Police Headquarters for processing.  Moreland was later released pending trial in District Court.

Charge: Disorderly Conduct

 

Officers made contact with James Glenn Porter at his Bedford Street residence due to him having an outstanding arrest warrant for violation of a protective order.  Porter refused to cooperate with officers slamming the door of his residence striking the officers.  The officers entered the residence advising Porter that he was under arrest.  A brief struggle ensued between Porter and officers.  Officers were able to gain control of Porter taking him into custody. Porter was transported to Cumberland Police Headquarters for processing.  Porter was later taken before a District Court Commissioner where he was held without bail.
