CPD Responds To Assault

July 11th, 2016 by WCBC Radio

On July 10, 2016 at 9:25 pm, officers from the Cumberland City Police Department responded to the 300 block of Bedford Street for an assault involving three people.  As officers arrived in the area they located two males and one female arguing in the street.  All parties involved were advised by officers to lower their voices and refrain from further disturbances.  During an investigation into the matter, the female Arika Elaine McMillan refused to lower her voice and continued to yell at one of the males involved in the assault.  McMillan failed to obey numerous orders by officers to lower her voice and she was advised that she was under arrest.  As officers attempted to place McMillan under arrest, she resisted their attempts and a struggle ensued.  During a struggle with police, McMillan was holding a pair of brass knuckles in her hand.  Officers were able to place McMillan under arrest at the scene without further incident.  McMillan was transported to the Cumberland City Police Department where she was processed, served and taken before the District Court Commissioner.  McMillan was later released on her own personal recognizance.

Arrested: Arika Elaine McMillan                        Age: 36 of Cumberland, MD

Charges: Obstructing and Hindering, Disorderly Conduct, Failure to Obey and Deadly Weapon Conceal.
