CPD Responds To Destruction Of Property & CDS

On 08/15/16 officers with the Cumberland Police Department responded to Canal Street in reference to a destruction of Property. Upon arrival Officers contacted an employee of the Western Maryland Train Station who advised that sometime overnight person(s) unknown busted out numerous windows to the building causing significant damage. There are no suspects or witnesses at this time. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Cumberland Police Dept at 301-777-1600.

 

CDS

 

On 08/15/16 at 6:02pm Officers with the Cumberland Police Dept responded to a business located on West Industrial Blvd for a suspicious complaint. Officers then contacted the subject in question and began conducting their investigation. Officers granted consent to search the individual which resulted in the recovery of a controlled dangerous substance and subsequent paraphernalia. As a result officers placed 36 year old Betsy Leavitt of Ridgeley under arrest and transported her to police headquarters where she was charged with two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and one count of possession of CDS not marijuana. Leavitt was taken for an initial appearance at District Court where she was released on her personal recognizance pending trial in District Court.
